Is awesome. I’m really enjoying what I’m doing! The whole past week and the week coming up we’ve been doing conch visual surveys, where we run transects and count the conch in different areas around the islands. I love underwater science! We even went lionfish hunting on Thursday and I brought home a fish, filleted it myself and cooked it up, delicious. I think I was meant to be an island girl.
Networking, networking, networking!!! I may have found myself a dive master job for my year off. It really pays off to be friendly, outgoing and not step on peoples toes! I have to leave Turks for graduation but who knows, it may be that I’ll be back here come September.
Working for the Department of Environmental & Maritime Affairs is going to be pretty awesome. I get to do coral reef assessments and bird monitoring and MORE!
As soon as I stepped off the plane I got to walk into the air of Turks and Caicos. It’s not what I expected but it’s wonderful! My roommates awesome. I think I’m going to have a wonderful time here.
And so the adventure starts as I say goodbye to upstate New York!!! Be back soon <3
